The particularities of the operations of distribution grid companies do not involve a material adverse environmental impact that could cause any irreversible change to wildlife or lead to environmental disasters.

However, as an environmentally responsible company, MRSK Holding strives to consistently reduce any potential adverse environmental impact and considers this in its operating activities.

The principal goals and objectives of the Company’s environmental responsibility are contained in the guidelines and ruling documents prepared in 2011:

  • Guidelines on Organizing Work on Air Pollution Control;
  • Guidelines on Organizing Work on Water Pollution Control;
  • Guidelines on Organizing Work on Subsoil and Soil Protection from Pollution, Contamination, and Exhaustion;
  • Guidelines on Organizing Work on Assessing Facilities’ Compliance with Environmental Protection Laws and Sanitary and Hygienic Criteria, and on Justifying the Necessity and Advisability of Developing Sanitary Protection Zones;
  • Guidelines on Organizing Work of Environmental Departments (Units)

The documents listed above study the requirements contained in legal regulations on environmental protection applicable to SDCs’ operating activities and define the system areas of measures (without consideration of regional regulatory documents) to implement these requirements. In the reporting period, SDCs used these data to prepare corporate standards, instructions, and regulations taking account of the local particularities and requirements of regional regulatory documents:

  • instructions for the accumulation, use, treatment, transportation and disposal of production and consumption waste
  • regulations for the collection and delivery of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in production departments
  • regulations for industrial environmental monitoring
  • methods for identifying environmental aspects and their environmental impact
  • other types of documents.
